Over 10,000 nautical miles in eight months, two Atlantic crossings, culturally and environmentally diverse destinations. This is the Schola Polaris voyage plan.
The Netherlands
Where the journey begins. Students prepare for their voyage at sea, learning teamwork, navigation, and what it means to live and learn aboard.
Greenland
A world of ice, mountains, and quiet strength. Here, students witness the impact of climate change up close and experience life in one of the planet’s most remote, resilient communities. The journey to get there might be a little bumpy…
Iceland
Land of fire and ice, where glaciers meet volcanoes. Students explore unique geology and renewable energy initiatives while reflecting on how humans adapt to extreme environments.
Canary Islands
A vibrant archipelago near the west coast of Africa, where scenic and challenging paths lead students up the slopes of volcanoes.
Cabo Verde
Further south we find another archipelago. Similar, yet at the same time completely different.
Fernando do Noronha
A protected marine paradise off the coast of Brazil. Students study ocean ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation while swimming in some of the clearest waters in the Atlantic.
Grenada
The “Spice Island” welcomes students with warmth and color. In Grenada, they experience Caribbean culture and explore the importance of reef conservation. At this point, the school year is already half way done!
Panama
A crossroads of continents and oceans. Students explore the Panama Canal, biodiversity of the rainforest, and the cultural blend that defines this gateway between worlds.
The Bahamas
Crystal waters and vibrant history. Students experience island culture and gain insight into life shaped by the sea.
Azores
An archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic; volcanic, green, and full of life. The surrounding waters are home to whales and dolphins that are often seen along the way.
The Netherlands
The journey ends where it began. Eight months after departure, the students arrive back in the Netherlands and prepare to go to the Alps to finish the schoolyear.
The Alps
In the heart of the Alps, students spend two final months completing their academic programme and exploring the mountains and surrounding region. The finish the year with a graduation ceremony.
